L O G L I N E

Two childhood best friends, now in their 40s, take a walk through their LA neighborhood that spirals into an all-day adventure  -- facing off with grief and midlife mayhem, one weird encounter at a time.

Henri’s turning a year older  but she doesn’t feel like celebrating. Her boyfriend, Jay, has recently died, her career’s at a standstill and middle age is closing in on her. But Sahara, her childhood best friend, has other plans. After all, LA has just come through another wildfire, and it’s a beautiful day in Hollywood. A perpetually underemployed actor with a penchant for wild nights, fleeting flings, and finding a good party, Sahara drags Henri - and her dog Bean – out into the sunshine. What starts as a casual stroll soon snowballs into an unexpected adventure when they stumble upon Jay’s bike locked to someone’s fence. Without a key, Sahara and Henri hatch a plan to cut the bike free at nightfall, forcing them to wait out the rest of the day together. Another tough pill for Henri to swallow. As they meander through LA’s varied neighborhoods, they encounter a humorously eclectic cast of characters, emblematic of all LA has to offer, and even run into Jay’s mother, who makes it clear there’s no love lost for Henri. It’s an epic day for the BFFs, an afternoon of unexpected encounters, absurd situations, and a rollercoaster of emotions compelling them, through heartfelt and often humorous tell-it-like-it-is conversations, to reexamine their friendship, the world around them, and the direction of their lives, culminating in their attempt to retrieve the bike... during which, of course, more goes wrong. A darkly funny and poignant look at two women coming into middle age, caught between the lives they planned and the ones they’re actually living, To Whom It May Concern is an ode to the absurdities of adulthood and the friendships that define us, steeped in a love letter to Los Angeles.
