Simonee Chichester is a multidisciplinary artist, independent filmmaker, writer, curator of events and performer who lives in Toronto.
This winter brings some cold weather upon us but it also brings amazing events and films that'll warm us all up! Simonee is currently developing two documentary features, and is also promoting her first feature film Chichester's Choice. The film made its WORLD premiere at The Hot Docs Film Festival but premiere's don't stop there…
Chichester's Choice makes its TV world premiere on TVO'S, The View From Here, Wednesday, December 12th, 2007 at 10 PM.
It makes its BC Premiere at The Rainbow Theatre for The Whistler Film Festival on Friday, November 30th at 9:30 PM…
Then it jet-sets over to Rome for The Tertio Millennio Film Festival 2007.
Chichester's Choice is a gripping personal story that follows Simonee Chichester's journey to find and reunite with her homeless after a 23 year separation. The film is a raw and often heartbreaking story that touches on the universal issues of alcoholism, abandonment, abuse and homelessness. It won the Audience Top Ten Award at Hot Docs and continues to screen at film festivals around the world.

In other Chichester's Choice related news…The font that makes up the title of the film, 
is now an official font that anyone can purchase and utilize. "Chichester" the font makes its World Premiere and can be found on My Fonts. The type was originally made for Simonee's film title and credits by a typographer enthusiast. Old letters sent to Simonee by her dad were studied, scanned and perfected over to make this unique type. The font was so beautiful that it inspired Simonee to register it in the hopes that she would someday run into other people using it on their documents from their computers. The strong and sometimes frustrated penmanship tells a story in itself and is now available in Bold and Regular for anyone to have.
In final news… It is with great sadness that we announce the retirement of ProACTIVE Words. Simonee, its curator will be moving on from this series. The night of word art had a great two-year run and will have its last show in the spring. Please check back for dates closer to the end of winter.
